LANCING THE LANCET - AGAIN!

The Lancet has increasingly become much less of a medical journal and much more of a political front for the anti-Bush dhimmi loving political moonbat left. Readers will recall that its previous published propaganda job, claiming 100,000 Iraqi deaths, was published in the weeks running up to the 2004 US election. Only the moonbat fraternity still put any faith in that discredited garbage and now, with weeks to go to the 2006 US elections, out comes the latest nonsense. Quelle surpise!

The new study that contends nearly 655,000 Iraqis have died because of the war, suggesting a far higher death toll than other estimates.  For Burnham's new study, researchers gathered data from a sample of 1,849 Iraqi households with a total of 12,801 residents from late May to early July. That sample was used to extrapolate the total figure. The estimate deals with deaths up to July.

The survey participants attributed about 31 percent of violent deaths to coalition forces. It does not (natch) distinguish if these were of Jihadists and Saddamite remnants. Just violent deaths - caused by those bloodthirsty Americans, right?? These new huge figure far exceeds normal media counts and is more than 20 times the estimate of 30,000 civilian deaths that President Bush gave in a speech in December.

Just so we can all understand where Richard Horton the ...ahem..impartial Editor of the Lancet is coming from..just watch this. Hat-tip to LGF...

Unfortunately, an independent report calls Louis Berger's work building and refurbishing Afghan schools and clinics an "unmitigated disaster." It cites a highway construction project overseen by Louis Berger that required maintenance even before completion.

His company is responsible for the Rebuilding Agricultural Markets Program (R.A.M.P.) (they love their acronyms in the construction business!) However, a year after building stores, grain silos and very, very expensive fruit drying machinery, they all stand abandoned, unused and battered by the Afghan winter. Now if the winter was something rare, that might explain it, but the WINTER HAPPENS EVERY YEAR, just like Nature intends! One project which was completed was to build an irrigation canal! Great, except that the canal is in Helmand, and the crop is Opium Poppies!!!

Lance Corporal Luke McCulloch, 21, of the 1st Battalion, the Royal Irish Regiment, died while fighting Taliban insurgents.

Lance Corporal Muirhead, 29, from Bearley, Warwickshire, and of 1 Royal Irish Regiment, died on 6 September, from injuries sustained in a firefight with Taliban at his base.

The two sets of names are intertwined, by the country, Afghanistan, and by the conflict still raging at a “Level not experienced since Korea”. I happen to believe in this war, and I firmly believe it is a conflict worth fighting! However, my point is simple, these British soldiers, along with the 38 others and the 337 Americans who died in this combat zone, protecting the “Reconstruction of Afghanistan” which is being carried out by many companies with similar histories of failure and negative results!

If human life can be given a value, could it be said that we are getting value for money????

ANOTHER VICTORY IN IRAQ?

I was pleased to read reports that the new leader of terror group al Qaeda in Iraq, Abu Ayyub al Masri, has been killed. Also known as Abu Hamza al Muhajir, he took control of the group on the death of the psychotic Abu Musab al Zarqawi.

Like his predecessor, Masri was killed by US forces, the Iraqi government announced. Iraqi security forces had said earlier this week that they believed they were closing in on Masri. He became a key target after succeeding Zarqawi, who had become one of the world's most wanted men after claiming responsibility for a series of terrorist attacks in Iraq.  As well as organising a string of suicide bombings which killed hundreds of civilians, he is thought to have personally beheaded several Western hostages, including Briton Ken Bigley. Zarqawi was killed by US troops in June.

Masri, an Egyptian, then took command of the group, which is linked to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda organisation....."

If this report is true, and time will tell, this will be another US victory.

I was reflecting on the news confirmed by Al Qu'eda's chief in Iraq, Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, that 4000 Jihadists have been killed in Iraq since 2003.

Now given that the MSM like to pretend that Iraq has nothing to do with Al Qu'eda - I guess the question for them is would they prefer to see these 4000 killed in Iraq, or rather on the streets of London and New York? Al Qu'eda confirms these 4000 came from outside Iraq and that kinda makes me think that Al Qu'eda see victory in Iraq as being key to their global terror campaign. Would that the gutless left in this country had similar insight! We either kill the Jihadists in their back yard or in ours. I favour the former.

WATERBOARDING...

I heard the BBC this morning being ever so concerned about the interrogation practise of "waterboarding." In fact, "Waterboarding" seems to be a very useful mechanism, as the information prised from Al Queda chief Khalid Sheikh Mohammad has already comprehensively proven. Would it have been better to allow Mohammad to avoid the waterboard treatment and ensured that hundreds if not thousands of innocent Americans working in the Library Tower - the tallest building in LA - met the same death as those who perished in the Twin Towers on 9/11? Liberals get all squeamish at the idea that terrorists might have to go through some very tough interrogations techniques if the lives of innocents are to be spared.

As this excellent article over on Frontpage enquires...

Are a few moments of a terrorist’s discomfort more important than the lives of the innocents he seeks to destroy? Are two minutes of Moussaoui’s anguish worth more than the three thousand lives lost on 9/11? Does his momentary pain override a lifetime of hurt of those left behind. If you can’t answer in the affirmative then hold your peace.

I agree. Captured terrorists must be interrogated using all appropriate means - and waterboarding seems to be as good a mechanism as any to ensure we obtain the information we need to save the lives of the innocent. Liberals want us to make scrambled eggs without breaking a few shells. I say - waterboard away.

THE GIFT OF ISLAM..

Those Islamists who detonate themselves in order to kill as many people as possible in as merciless a manner as possible are surely the personification of evil. That a section of Islam admires such monsters is a direct challenge to that so-called religion (or pathology, if you prefer) but surely those of us who oppose the death cult of self detonation should be swift to condemn the killers and to highlight the calculated barbarism carried out by this legion of the damned in the name of Islam.

But when I read the daily litany of some Jihadist detonating themselves in Islamistan, such as this one that happened in Kabul, I believe that those who report the story are almost glorifying the brutal act and plainly using it to enforce their own leftist agenda ie We have to get our military OUT of there - right now - since we can't stop the suicide bombers.  They are winners and we are losers. It's an obvious leftist subtext.

Of course we can't stop all the suicide bombers. These people are quite happy to blow themselves into eternity, taking as many Muslims/Christians/Jews/Atheists with them as possible. The media presents each suicide bombing as a success and a blow against Bush. And in doing so, it feeds the enthusiasm of those Islamic deviants who inculcate the death cult into their young and impressionable people.

I'm not sure how you deal with the suicide bombers. Killing them before they detonate is obviously the first line of defence. But should our military also not be identifying the households from which they come and then punish them? As it is, those Islamic households who produce self-detonators enjoy prestige and hero-worship when their kids commit mass murder. Maybe they need to enjoy a little bit of incarceration so they learn that life as the host of a self detonator is not a blast?

Suicide bombing is an act of grotesque evil. Those who carry it out are evil. It shows how primitive and violent the enemy is. Our media should be exposing this cowardly aspect of the Jihad but it prefers to almost admire the bravery of the self detonators. From Cherie Blair to Jenny Tonge, the UK's leftist intelligentsia sympathises with these self detonating monsters and the culture that hero worships the Shahids. So perhaps we cannot be too surprised when the MSM also chooses to indirectly tip the hat their way.

A leaked report to ATW has revealed that the US entry to World War Two provided encouragement to the fanatical Nazis and their fellow travellers and only made things worse. It seems that this fatal decision by the US President only made the world a more dangerous place. For Nazis.

I read this in horror. Writing in The Times, Pakistani leader Pervez Musharaff discusses the kidnapping and murder of Daniel Pearl, a citizen of both the United States and Israel, and the South Asia bureau chief of The Wall Street Journal.

"Then in May 2002 we arrested someone named Fazal Karim, a militant activist. When we interrogated him we discovered that he was involved in Pearl’s slaughter. He also told us that he knew where Pearl was buried.

He was asked how he knew. Chillingly, he said he knew because he had actually participated in the slaughter by holding one of Pearl’s legs. But he didn’t know the name of the person who had actually slit Pearl’s throat. All he could say is that this person was “Arab-looking”.

He led us to the small house in a neighbourhood in Karachi where Daniel Pearl had been held captive. He then took us to a plot of land near by and told us where he was buried. We exhumed the body and found it in ten badly decomposed pieces. Our doctors stitched the pieces back together as best as they could.

The man who may have actually killed Pearl or at least participated in his butchery, we eventually discovered, was none other than Khalid Sheikh Mohammad, al-Qaeda’s No 3. When we later arrested and interrogated him, he admitted his participation.

In July 2002 an anti-terrorism court in Pakistan gave Omar Saeed Sheikh the death penalty. The case is currently on appeal."

Ten pieces???? There is no reasoning with Al Qu'eda savages. There is no dialogue to be had. We either kill them or they will kill us - and as they showed in the horrendous murder of Daniel Pearl, they are driven by an evil that knows no boundaries.

NEW YORK TIMES TRAWLS FOR JIHAD...

Killing terrorists is the best way to win the war against militant Islam. US, UK and other coalition forces have killed quite a few of them in Iraq - the more the merrier, in my view. So, it's interesting to observe the UK media such as the BBC parroting claims initially made in the New York Times (Al Qu'eda's preferred paper of record?) that the liberation of Iraq has made the threat of terrorism and helping fuel Islamic radicalism worldwide.

I agree with White House spokesman Peter Watkins who has hit back at the newspaper's report, saying: "Their [terrorists'] hatred for freedom and liberty did not develop overnight, those seeds were planted decades ago. Instead of waiting while they plot and plan attacks to kill innocent Americans, the United States has taken the initiative to fight back."

Of course there are those in the US security community hostile to the Bush administration. Many of these were the people who were sleeping when 9/11 happened, and I fail to see why we should pay any attention to their subsequent whining. Al Qu'eda also know that undermining US resolve is the best way to win. The NYT conveniently obliges. And not for the first time.
