I note that two senior church leaders have appealed for Northern Ireland's politicians to make progress towards the restoration of a "power sharing" Executive and Assembly.
Such reasonable souls, aren't they?
Roman Catholic Primate Archbishop Sean Brady said where reasonable assurances had been given on support for law and order and confirmed, it was difficult to justify the absence of devolved government. And senior Methodist Rev Harold Good, one of the two witnesses selected by the IRA to view some of it's alleged decommissioning event last year, urged the DUP not to impose any more pre-conditions on policing.
What a surprise!
This is more evidence of the absolute moral bankruptcy that drives the so-called "peace process." Religious figures in Northern Ireland have been happy to be used as useful fools for the political class for some time. These apostates appeal, in their ever so sincere voices, for terrorist proxies to be seated in Government. These fools plead, with breaking voice, for democracy to be perverted by putting gangsters into policing. These are the men who pray for decadence and who betray any semblance of Christianity - in the name of peace, of course.
Lets's not forget the Nothern Bank robbery by a republican gang in December 2004 (£26 million) just after the talks between the shinners and the DUP on devolution had broken down on the issue of photographic evidence of decommissioning. Is it credible that Adams and McGuinness had no inkling of this at the time they were in discussions with Peter Robinson?
And let's not forget Robert McCartney, brutally murdered by republican scum in January 2005.
Needless to add that no convictions have been secured in either crime. Want to bet that's how it will stay?

I despair of morally vacant clergy.

You go crazy Dave.
Surely the devil is at work in one such as yourself. Taking time off from "nuke em all" to advocating war war instead of jaw jaw. What a complete and utter tosser.

Idiot Watcher,
Surely you need to drop the surname?

The Clergy, the two governments, the majority, British public opinion, Irish public opinion, world opinion who voted for the agreement and continue to vote for pro-agreement parties.
All out of step?

Yes, and not for the first time.

When does speculation become reality?
Posted by: Davy McFaul | September 26, 2006 at 11:58 AM
Not speculation, clear statements by the Chief Constable of the PSNI and republican links of individuals in Cork and Dublin where some money has been recovered.

Peter
Not speculation, clear statements by the Chief Constable of the PSNI
Why bother with courts if you can just take the word of the cops on guilt or innocence.
The fact is that despite claims and promises not one red cent of the money found in Cork has been forensically linked to the Northern bank.
As for the alleged links with republicans, they arose from the arrest of a Sinn Fein member who was nowhere near any of the money. He was later released without charge.

H94, a little memory refresher for you and other republican apologists - taken from wikipedia (no doubt it has been infiltrated by "British securocrats") at

QUOTE
17 February 2005
On 17 February the Gardaí announced it had arrested seven people and recovered over £2 million, including £60,000 in Northern Bank notes, during raids in the Cork and Dublin areas, as part of ongoing investigations into money laundering. The Gardaí did not officially confirm that the raids were related to the Northern Bank robbery, but made the arrests under the Offences Against the State Act, the republic's chief anti-terrorism law. Those arrested are reported to include several men from Derry and a former Sinn Féin councillor. A suspected Real IRA member was arrested at Heuston Station, along with two others. Money to the sum of €94,000 was found in their vehicle, in a washing powder box. One of the men, Don Bullman from Co. Cork, was charged on February 18th at the Special Criminal Court with IRA membership.
[edit]
18 February
On 18 February, Gardaí in Passage West arrested a man found to be attempting to burn sterling banknotes. Two men in Dublin were released from questioning, as was the Sinn Féin member in Cork.
A top Irish businessman and associate of the Taoiseach, Phil Flynn, stepped down from a number of positions pending the outcome of a Gardaí investigation into Chesterton Finance, of which he is a non-executive director. He stepped down as chairman of a government body overseeing decentralisation, as well as giving up a position on the board of VHI and as chairman of the Bank of Scotland (Ireland).
Police in Northern Ireland recovered £50,000 in unused Northern banknotes at Newforge Country Club, a sports and social club in Belfast for off-duty and retired police officers, owned by the PSNI's Athletic Association. The PSNI stated it was a diversion, but it is being investigated.
[edit]
19 February
Police confirm the money found at the Newforge Country Club was part of the £26 million from the bank robbery.
October 2005
On 12 October, Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy told a law enforcement conference in Dublin that he was satisfied that the money recovered in Cork in February came from the Northern Bank robbery.

Yes I dispair of you as well and it's hard for you to point your elbows at yourself.

Peter, do you accept the word of the Chief Constable when he says the IRA looks like it's committed to peace, that they have no plans to go to war, that the SF leadership is keeping it from fraying at the edges and some of its members drifting back to violence?
Posted by: Cunningham | September 26, 2006 at 08:17 PM
Cunningham, I accept that for the mainstream IRA the war is over. But it has not disbanded, even if it has decommssioned most of its weapons and explosives.
And in any case many of them have continued their involvement in fuel smuggling, red diesel washing (and polluting), counterfeiting and other scams. Meanwhile, they and their political wing still refuse to support the law of the land in the form of the courts and the PSNI.
So while those conditions persist, there can be no question of the Shinners getting into government in Northern Ireland, which I presume is what you were getting at. I hope the DUP mean what they say.
