Here's how ARROGANT Nulabour has become after all these years in power.
The Times reports that Cherie Blair has presented the cash-strapped Labour Party with a £7,700 bill for the services of her personal hair stylist during last year’s general election campaign. As Labour struggled with outgoings so large that it had to resort to secret loans from millionaires to stay afloat, Mrs Blair made the party pay £275 a day for a month to keep her hair in shape. The invoice from André Suard, her hairdresser, is declared by Labour as an election expense in its annual statement of accounts for 2005 submitted to the Electoral Commission last month.
And the response from the official spokesman?
"So what?"
This hideous women was born in Bury, where her dad Tony was appearing in rep! Not Liverpool! There is a place called Little Crosby six miles from Liverpool where the reformation did not get too.
A journalist once went to this catholics only village , and was met by a wall of silence when she dared to ask "Do any Protestants live here"? This is England in the 21st Century? Can you imagine the uproar at a Protestant only village on Merseyside? Cherie on a visit to this village said "its good to be amongst friends" Friends not too keen on Prods obviously!

'Hair' today, hopefully 'gone tomorrow'!

She married a Protestant didn't she? Puts a bit of a dent in your case.
I remember an Orange Order leader calling him a traitor for marrying her but nobody made a fuss in the other direction.
As for the reformation Mark Steyn put it well yesterday
When we talk airily about when Islam will have a reformation, we forget one thing. Would-be Muslim “reformers” have an advantage that Martin Luther and co didn’t – they know where the Reformation ends up, with Christianity pushed to the margins of an all but wholly secular Europe. Why would they go down that path “to lose their God”? The advantages of a reformation may seem obvious to Continental leftists but not to any Muslims who take their faith seriously.

No - who she married doesn't say anything about her friends prejudices Henry...

MR
The attempt was to imply guilt by association. There could be no other reason for raising something so trivial.
I'm no fan of the Blairs but facts is facts.

Henry - sorry, I know I'm being pedantic - but who Mrs Blair married is irrelevent to the criticism of her friends. When I courted a RC girl I met with disapproval from some friends. One cannot argue that my going out with the girl in any way showed that my friends weren't being bigots.
Posted by: Madradin Ruad | April 21, 2006 at 10:48 AM
Look, this is not about her religion! I couldn't care less who or what she worships - that's her concern. But 7k for that hairstyle is a rip-off!!!!

MR
But it didn't make you a bigot and in a discussion about your hair they would be irrelevant.

Scouseproud is a contributer here who is obsessed with viewing every topic in terms of Protestantism/Catholicism. That is his perogative. We all have our little foibles.
Back to the all important topic of Cherie's Barnet. If Labour party members are happy for their contributions to be wasted on some over paid crimper to be following her round and touching up her locks every day , as long as taxpayers aren't coughing up , it shouldn't bother anyone else.

Colm,
I doubt if too many Labour party members will be happy with this extravagance. Cherie is a high-earning barrister and this smacks of the particular type of meanness which in my experience is typical of the rich. Like the BBC Director General claiming £5 expenses for a lunch when he is paid a salary of zillions.

Peter
I have no doubt that lots of Labour party members would be unhappy about this, but they have a choice to ensure they don't have to contribute one more penny to Cherie's coiffed head - Taxpayers wouldn't.
Posted by: Colm | April 21, 2006 at 11:37 AM
I would be willing to pay for a paper bag to ensure that this expense is not repeated.
Posted by: EU Serf | April 21, 2006 at 11:43 AM
Why is the Labour party being asked to pay for this (ultimately the UK taxpayer)? Does Cherie Blair not have any money of her own. She is a "human rights" barrister after all, I'm sure she's raking it in, given the obsession the Geovernment has with human rights.

How very well observed, I know exactly what you mean Peter, and agree.

I dont know about being obsessed colm, but yes i do believe the conflict in Ulster is religion based to quote Conor Cruise OBrien, "if religion is a red herring its a red herring the size of a whale" Lets not discuss on the RC side any Priests who have been members of the IRA, the former leader of the south Derry ira, for one, or those Priests who have provided safe houses for the ira ,or those who act as their apologists abroad, or like Father Fell have served time. The very fact that people have difficulty naming, half a dozen Protestant nationalists proves the point, compare with South Africa where the ANC had black, White , Indian supporters, a support that reflected the whole of society, when has the ira or irish nationalism had that?

Colm
I see what you mean.
Posted by: Henry94 | April 21, 2006 at 03:11 PM
Henry
It's like Felix Quigley all over again!
scouseproud
Little question for you. What has Conor Cruise o Brien, IRA supproting priests, or the 400 years of religous conflict got to do with the price of Cherie's ebony locks?

She's the amoral, twisted, greedy, terroist idolising spawn of a low rent porn actor. About says it all for her and the money grubbing phoney she married.

LOL, yes agree. And they all vote Labour and live in sodding Hampstead.

I had to laugh at the story the other day about how Cherie while in Australia phoned through to Downing St. to get 2 flunkies to pop over to a newpaper headquarters in a taxi to pick up some air mile vouchers she had being saving coupons to collect. Apparently the vouchers had to be collected on a certain day and she was determined not to missout.

Scouseproud - in South Africa there WAS real oppression.

She should've just worn a veil she's so keen to keep on Muslim girls in the UK. Nice one for a tenner tops!
