Let's have a little think about two sets of competing headlines.
90% of Northern Ireland parents have been polled as being against new legislation which will ban grammar schools from selecting pupils based on their academic ability. Got that - 90%! The Minister for Education. Angela Smith, rejects their view and insists that Government will abolish academic selection regardless of what the electorate think.
Meanwhile, the government funded Power Enquiry, chaired by Labour grandee Baroness Helena Kennedy, concludes that "too often, citizens feel excluded from decision-making".
Mmmm.....I wonder why?????
