Can I express my DISGUST at the news that the Conservative Party is welcoming an IRA/Sinn Fein emissary to it's annual conference for the first time - more than 20 years after the IRA bombed the Tories at Brighton. Sinn Fein apologist Conor Murphy is due to become the first republican to address the Tory faithful gathered in Blackpool for their annual get-together. The Sinn Fein member is due to speak in a debate on the fringes of the four-day conference tomorrow.Just think - a representative of an organisation that has murdered so many Conservative figures is now being welcomed into the fold. Utterly shameful, and whichever quislings arranged it should hang their wretched heads in shame.
The Conservative Party *isn't* welcoming them. This is a fringe meeting, and all sorts of weirdos stage fringe meetings at the Conservative conference. Do you know which organisation is staging this?

ok - It's the first time in 20 years that some "weirdo's" presumably associated with the Conservative Party have opened the doors to the barbarians. What are the Tories doing to STOP it?

Think on who you're trying to ban! These people are Ministers-in-waiting; waiting, that is, until Hain persuades the D.U.P. that the knife hidden behind his back is really an olive branch!

I imagine there's nothing that can be done to stop them. Anybody can book a hotel meeting room in Blackpool, and invite any speaker they like, and then hand out leaflets to the delegates.
All the Conservative Party can do is to refuse to advertise the meeting.

David: I can see where you're coming from on this post, but surely it's time to move on? I can't abide Sinn Fein, but can we be optimistic here and see it as a sign of the times that SF are headed in the right direction?

It cuts both ways David
Republicans are sending one of their own to meet members of a party that are responsible for the likes of Thatcher.

Chris,
Have you any idea WHICH debate he's involved in? I couldn't see it on the schedule.

David
He is involved in The 'CHAMP' debate which takes place in the Savoy Suite, Savoy Hotel, Queens Promenade, Blackpool begins at 12.30pm and will also involve contributions from DUP MP Jeffery Donaldson, Tory MP David Lidington and former UUP MP David Burnside.
