BUSH SEPARATES FROM HIS BASE...

I do like Peggy Noonan, I think she is a very thoughtful conservative writer. So when she excoriates President Bush for his treatment of those many Republicans who are genuinely concerned about his Immigration plans, I think she's well worth a listen... don't you?

The White House doesn't need its traditional supporters anymore, because its problems are way beyond being solved by the base. And the people in the administration don't even much like the base. Desperate straits have left them liberated, and they are acting out their disdain. Leading Democrats often think their base is slightly mad but at least their heart is in the right place. This White House thinks its base is stupid and that its heart is in the wrong place.

For almost three years, arguably longer, conservative Bush supporters have felt like sufferers of battered wife syndrome. You don't like endless gushing spending, the kind that assumes a high and unstoppable affluence will always exist, and the tax receipts will always flow in? Too bad! You don't like expanding governmental authority and power? Too bad. You think the war was wrong or is wrong? Too bad. But on immigration it has changed from "Too bad" to "You're bad."

A DIP IN THE POOL!

Guns'n'butter reveals the sensational scoop that Vice President Dick Cheney has signaled a major strategic shift in the War on Terror ...when he invited all terrorists for a swim at his home.

"Yeah, I figured, maybe the polling is right and the American people really don't want us to be tough on the terrorists anymore," Cheney said. "I'm a little new at this dialog stuff, but I thought, what the heck, I'll give it a try. So I've invited all al-Qaida members and any other terrorists to come over for a  dunk... er, a dip in the pool."

"Besides, it's a beautiful late October day in D.C., perfect for nice, relaxing swim. I've got the grill going; it's going to be awesome. And to ensure everyone's safety, I've hired 300 lifeguards. So you are a American Lawyer acting for a convicted terrorist, and you smuggle messages out of his jail, and pass then on to his followers, in the full knowledge that this is both against the law, and will bring aid and comfort to his fellow islamic terror providers! Your actions are discovered, and you yourself are tried on charges of giving material support to Terrorism!

When the 'Guilty' verdict is read out, radical lawyer LynneStewart, 65, turned pale, slumps back into her chair and began to cry!

CINDY SHEEHAN - NOBEL LAUREATE?

Did you hear that there is talk of "Peace Mom" Cindy Sheehan being considered for a Nobel Peace Prize? I suppose her rancid hatred of the US Administration, her UTTER contempt for the US Military, her love-in with American hating thugs like Hugo Chavez, these all are admirable traits in the eyes of the bozos who hand our these tatty prizes. And Cindy should also consider that if a cretin like Jimmy Carter can win one of these trinkets, then she must have a good chance! MEANWHILE back in the reality based community Joseph Williams has something to say. Who is he, you ask?  Let him explain..

The woman who has called terrorists "freedom fighters" and who attacks our troops, our military and our Commander in Chief was considered for a Nobel Prize.

Instead of a Nobel Prize, how about we all rally together and help send a message to the world that Cindy Sheehan doesn't speak for us!?! There's a really easy way for us to do this right now.

A brand new book that counters the negativity of Cindy Sheehan is about to come out. It tells the stories of Gold Star Families, including myself, who love and support our military men and women and who are committed to the fight against terrorism This great new book is called, "American Mourning," and is written by Melanie Morgan.

I will be buying a copy of this book and I hope you do. We should honour the brave and courageous such as Cindy Sheehan's son and Joe Williams son - men who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of Iraqi liberty. To convey a Nobel Peace Prize on "Peace Mom" who spends her time bringing shame on herself would be exactly the sort of spiteful act one expects from the Nobel Peace Prize committee.

CONDI LOSES THE PLOT...AGAIN

Let's be quite clear. The Fatah movement is a TERRORIST movement. Terror Godfather Yasser Arafat founded Fatah, and it incorporates the Al-Aksa Brigades terror group within its structure. So can you guess who is supplying this gang of thugs with weapons? Yip - the USA and Israel!

Thousands of M-16 assault rifles, made in the U.S., were delivered to Fatah forces in Judea and Samaria as part of the effort to strengthen Abbas's position in opposition to Hamas leader and PA Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh. According to PA security sources quoted by the Middle East Newsline (MENL), "The weapons are meant for PA forces but they end up with Fatah in the war against Hamas." The deal, meant to increase Abbas' power in the struggle for control of the PA government, was approved by Israel.

And Condi, showing her monumental lack of integrity on this issue said...

"The Palestinian people deserve a better life, a life that is rooted in liberty, democracy, uncompromised by violence and terrorism, unburdened by corruption and misrule and forever free of the daily humiliation of occupation."I promise you my personal commitment to that goal.I believe there could be no greater legacy for America than to help bring into being a Palestinian state for people who have suffered too long, have been humiliated too long,"

Rubbish. The Palis VOTED Hamas terrorists into Government. The Palis DANCED WITH JOY the day the towers came down. The Palis have shown they do not deserve a State, that they are ruthless followers of Jihad, that their hatred of Jews is endemic, and yet poor Condi feels their pain. Give me a break...

LOSING THE MORAL COMPASS...

I'm sorry but I have to put on record my view that this second Bush administration is losing its moral compass. I say this in sorrow, as I fully support the broad principles of US conservatism, but first we have Condi pleading on behalf of the murderous Fatah movement and now we have the US supporting "middle of the road" sanctions on North Korea! Chirpy Chirpy Cheap Cheap.

The Times reports that in a new draft UN resolution circulated late last night, Washington modified its earlier plan to mount international inspections of all cargoes entering and leaving North Korea and softened the language used to describe financial sanctions. Instead it proposed a travel ban on North Koreans who support Kim Jong Il's weapons programme and a Security Council committee that will report on the efforts of member states to control the movement of people and goods that might help Pyongyang develop more missiles and nuclear warheads.

The plan excludes altogether Japan's hawkish suggestions to stop North Korean ships docking in ports and North Korean aircraft from taking off or landing in any country. But it maintains a ban on the export of luxury goods, a measure aimed squarely at the Stalinist state's tiny elite.

Just pathetic. The lesson is that when the US goes through the UN in order to obtain "international action", it ends up becoming emasculated and ultimately self-defeating.

A TOUCHING EULOGY..

When 1st Lt. Aaron Seesan died in combat on May 22, 2005, in Iraq, his parents did not know he had written a prescient poem, “Eulogy of the Common Soldier,” as a high-school senior six years earlier. Here are Aaron's words..

25-year-old Lt. Aaron Seeson and his fellow engineers were trying to find and clear roadside bombs when one of them blew up."Even as Aaron lied there wounded, his response was to say, 'Take charge Sgt. Arnold and take care of all of the others first,' " said Capt. Bryan Carroll.

God bless him and give his family comfort. This is the nobility of spirit that breaks your heart.

DESECRATION

I was distressed to read that a memorial to a gallant NYPD Officer killed in the line of duty on 9/11 has been desecrated. Can you guess by whom? I'll come to that in a moment.....

Paul Talty joined the NYPD in 1993. On Sept. 11, 2001, at age 40, with two pre-teen children and a pregnant wife at home, he was called to the World Trade Center to assist with rescue efforts. He was one of the first of the first responders on the scene. He died tha day.On a street corner light post in Queens, there is a 9/11 memorial to Talty. Or rather, there was a memorial to Talty.

Michelle Malkin highlights what happened...

"A man described by police as (SURPRISE) a Turkish-born Muslim was charged yesterday with destroying a Queens memorial to a fallen 9/11 cop while screaming, "This is political!" Adnan Emre, 26, tore down a portion of Officer Paul Talty's tribute attached to a light post at 50th Avenue and Vernon Boulevard in Long Island City, police sources said.

It consisted of 5-inch-by-7-inch picture of the late officer, a cross, a plaque and crossed American and Irish flags. The plaque is inscribed, "Rest in Peace, Paul. We miss you. God Bless."

Emre ripped down the cross at about 7:52 a.m., cops said, and announced his deed by screaming, "This is political"

So, to reprise, a Muslim tears down a memorial to a NYPD officer and the MSM pass it off as just "one of those thing".

CONDI'S DELUSIONS...

I have been arguing  for some time about the poor performance of Condi Rice since she moved to the State Department. Many other conservatives share this anxiety and I really enjoyed this article by Michael Ledeen over at NRO. He points out the reality that Rice has NO intention of challenging Iran as it rushes to get Nukes...

In short, she has no serious intention of challenging the Tehran regime. She did not mention the kind of political action that might yet bring down the mullahs (precisely the sort of strategy contained in Senator Rick Santorum’s Iran Freedom and Support Act that was passed late Friday night, a bill she shamefully fought by going to opposition leaders), and she seems in total denial about the total failure of the “diplomatic option.” She does not seem to have noticed that the Islamic Republic has been waging war against us for 27 years, during which time we have offered them every imaginable deal (she herself trotted out a long list of “incentives” if they agreed to suspend their nuclear enrichment program). They have rejected every one. But she’s still hunting for “reasonables.”

Ledeen is right. Rice seriously thinks that the UN can handle the pressing issue of Iran and she seems to be betting that the gutless Europeans will come around to playing the strong sanctions hand! In this regard her judgement is at least as bad as that of Colin Powell and the consequences will be much worse. Bush SHOULD sack her or at least move her some place where she can do less damage - but she appears to be untouchable even as her judgement becomes intolerable.

AND THE LESSON TODAY IS HOW TO DIE...

Like so many people, I was sickened to read of the fiendish killings that took place in an Amish schoolhouse in Pennsylvania yesterday. For any man to execute young girls in this manner is beyond belief - and my prayers are for their families. God bless the souls of the young girls so mercilessly murdered and I hope those who have been badly wounded pull through.

There are a few points I wanted to make in relation to this event;

1. As a Christian, I believe that Satan prowls this Earth, and the events that took place in Nickel Mines indicates that he can strike anywhere at anytime. Evil is real, in my view, and that's what we saw yesterday visited upon these innocents.

2. The reflexive "Let's ban guns" line taken by the BBC last night appalled me. It's NOT guns that kill people, it's people that kill people. I fully support the legal right to bear arms and only wish the same applied in the UK. All those pious hypocrites from the anti-gun lobby who have instantly jumped out of the cupboard to take advantage of the horror caused by these awful events to perpetuate their own agenda should reflect a little. Guns can also save lives - it is the wickedness in human hearts that seeks to take them. How do you decommission that?

3. I have never visited the Amish and only know a little about them as a community. But this must be a terrible blow to them, and I hope their faith can help them through.
