A PHANTOM (WITHOUT) MENACE!

One of the pleasures of this blogosphere is the chance one gets to meet people from all around the world. And so it is that I have met with an ATW contributor, and all the way from Brooklyn, The Phantom, in Belfast this lunchtime. We had a very pleasant chat in a central Belfast hostelry, and I trust he has a great time travelling in the weeks ahead. Belfast was surprisingly sunny today, so I hope The Phantom will look back fondly on his short time here!

Hope you both had a nice day.

See how Phantom talks about his upcoming visit to "Ulster" on his site:

"I will use Belfast as a base of operations to visit family in County Monaghan, then up in County Donegal. They're both in Ulster, so may as well stay in the Ulster capital."

I hope he's a bit careful about saying things like that when he gets to Monaghan and Donegal!

Cunningham,

It was a real pleasure! If he doesn't make it back from Monaghan and Donegal, we'll know that the "vocab nuance" proved his undoing!

I think he meant the province not the current border.

I'm sure he'll love Béal Feirste ;)

I've been there twice and loved it.

>>I think he meant the province not the current border.<<

Mahons, the province doesn't have a capital. In fact, neither does the current border (although Crossmaglen does have a strong claim).

Cunningham - Tell them at Emain Macha. But your point is well taken. I thought you were making some comment about Donegal not being in Ulster. Rush to judgment by moi.

A nice post :o)

glad to see a yank make it across the pond. I hope he posts on here how he was recieved (other than by David)....

Troll

I've been up here twice now and have always been treated well. Belfast is a swell place, let's face it!

Phantom,

Please give us a comparison of Belfast and Brooklyn, either here or over at your Bay Ridge site. Some of us like both places, but others (like W. C. Fields) would rather be in Philadelphia.

Howdy from Dublin

Alan, will do that when I return next week.

Had fun visiting old and new friends, and driving all over on the left side without running anyone over.

Cheers
