Two words spring to mind "legitimate target" but, wasn't there an Irish Republican flag flying over a PSNI station in County Londonderry recently?

1. photoshop
2. set up by photographer
What's the UN flag doing behind a wire fence on the edge of a cliff?

Don't think so, though, there might have been an Irish Republic flag flying on a PSNI station.
Maybe that should have been bombed, and if there were PSNI officers there it would be an ‘unfortunate incident’.

If that is a Hezbollah flag, that's not news. I heard someone say a year ago that they saw them all over the place, right by the UN positions.

The photos and many more like it are widely available. That particular one was taken by Canadian forces in 2002. The UN post is not on a cliff; none of them are!
Even the UNIFIL press releases are admitting that Hezbollocks have been attacking UNIFIL posts and so on for years!
Harry's Place is having a great discussion about all this by the way!

smcgiff demonstrates the typical "head in the sand" denials that will prevent real solutions to problems like Middle East violence.
If you cannot bear to accept the reality of the situation, even with a photo like this, then you are incapable of reasoning your way to a solution of the wider issues and difficulties.

The Ostrich position is very common on the Left.

‘If you cannot bear to accept the reality of the situation, even with a photo like this,‘
Mike,
Your argument is based on a photograph a nine year old could photoshop in a minute.
I’m not so easily swayed either way.

The higher flag is the one that is in charge.
In the United States, the US Flag always is the higher flag, except at the United Nations where all flags fly at the same level.
For Hezbollah to fly their flag above the UN Flag means that they think they are in charge and insulting the UN.
Any UN commander that would allow another flag at a[n allegedly neutral] UN Observation Post, should be court-martialed, just as if he painted a bulls-eye on his position.
But considering how the UN acts, maybe it is appropriate to fly the UN Flag under the Hezbollah Flag. Kofi Annan routinely acts and speaks for Hezbollah.
