WHY RACIAL PROFILING WORKS!

Leaving the wackier fringes of leftism out (and that accounts for about 99.9% of the International MSM) let's discuss why Racial Profiling is an effective tool in the fight against the Islamofascists. I think the pro-case is best made by .. a Muslim.

"I am an Indian muslim. I fully agree that whatever means are necessary should be used to enhance security, including racial profiling, since it also means security of Muslims. Muslims have to bear with it. However if racial profiling is more realistic it will be more effective with less effort. The following are the facts, as I see them:

-All major terrorist activities targeting U.S. interests and killing larger number of Americans, which is of main concern and must be prevented, involve Middle Eastern terrorist organisations.

-Almost all suicide bombing activities, which should be the biggest concern for the authorities, involve younger Arab men of fanatic religious convictions who think that it is an act which pleases god and rewarded with paradise. Suicide bombers are the most dangerous types and can cause the most damage as has been seen historically.

-Almost all radical militant islamic teachings and preachings against U.S./ west originate from Arabian extremists/preachers.

- All the funding for the anti U.S./west come from oil rich Arab countries.

- Based on the above I can understand if authorities are looking closely at Muslim Arabian men . Why waste too much time on other Muslims? When did an Indian, Sri Lankan, Turkish or a Surinam Muslim man commit a suicide terrorism against U.S./west last?

All valid points. Because it is politically incorrect to acknowledge that the primary terrorists threat comes from a vicious minority within the Muslim faith, we have to pretend that a 70 year old Methodist grandmother is JUST as much of a potential danger, as say young Abdul from downtown Toronto, the guy who just loves going to the Mosque and who takes Islam VERY seriously. Oh, and perhaps with an interest in chemicals.

The fact that Shamesty International and the ACLU are against Racial Profiling tells you that it must have something going for it! Not all Muslims are terrorists, I'm sure we can agree on that. In fact many Muslims are appalled at what is carried out in their Faith. But it seems that all terrorists are Muslims, and so the argument FOR racial profiling could not be greater.

Consider what happened in summer 2001, when Phoenix FBI agent Kenneth Williams urged his superiors to investigate militant Muslim men whom he suspected of training in U.S. flight schools as part of al-Qaeda missions.

Williams' recommendation was rejected, FBI Director Robert Mueller later said, partly because of concerns that the plan could be viewed as discriminatory racial profiling.

Mueller acknowledged that if Williams' Phoenix profiling memo had been shared with the agency's Minneapolis office, which had unsuccessfully sought a special intelligence warrant to search suspected terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui's laptop computer, the warrant might have been granted.

If the FBI had taken Williams' advice, the feeling of some Arabs and Muslims might have been hurt. But the Twin Towers might still be standing and 3,000 innocent people might be alive today.

In a war, racial profiling is not only acceptable but it should be a priority. Yet Liberals have so infested and polluted the body politic that one is called a racist for seeking to protect the innocent from those who want to kill them.

Despite your title there is not one iota of evidence that racial profiling WORKS above.

The closest you have is this:

Racial profiling is when you start lifting and harrassing people on that kind of evidence alone, or when you create a quick route through security for people who do not fit the profile.

One is contrary to the principle of equal enforcement of the law (unconstitutional in the US), the other is dumb.

What are you talking about? Have you any idea of the number of Jews who fought for Germany, and Austria, during WWI? And fought very often with much distinction. Vienna had by far the largest jewish population in Europe (about 180,000) and the majority of these were solid Austrian citizens, as partiotic as the next. The situation in Germany was no different.

The Nazis hated the Jews as they needed a scapegoat for Germany/Austria's defeat in 1918 and subsequent economic collapse, not because of what Jews did or did not do in WWI.

I don't have any facts on this but I've always understood that the majority of Jews weren't the strongest supporters of the Hohenzollerns and Hapsburgs (and with good reason) and hence might have rejoiced at the defeat of Germany / Austria in World War I. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Adrian, it was much greater. From the territory of the German Reich around 100,000 Jews or those of Jewish origin served for the Kaiser (more than 12,000 of whom fell in battle). 1,500 became officers and 8,500 received the Iron Cross.

There were probably equal numbers from Austria and its eastern Empire.

(Much more suprising is that 150,000 German "Jews" (according to Nazi ideology, people of Jewish extraction) served in Hitler's Wehrmacht. Several were generals. 244 were awarded the Iron Cross.)

Re. Jews in Vienna pre-Anschluss. Things can't have been too bad as there was a huge growth in the Jewish population of that city in those years (mostly German immigrants fleeing from Hitler.)
