Question of the day....Can you tell me who called Zimbabwean tyrant Robert Mugabe "the brightest star in the African firmament"?
No?
OK, here's another clue. it was the same guy who expressed his "admiration" for the genocidal tyrant mainly because he ended the rule of the white minority in Zimbabwe.
Got it yet? He's the same guy who applauded Mugabe as "a tremendous freedom fighter"?
Still not sure, OK, he's the guy who has gone on record saying that Bin Laden is a child of God.
You must have figured by now that the only person with the required level of crass stupidity to say such things is....the former Archbishop of Cape Town and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Desmond Tutu!
David
Why do you include the "child of god" comment here. The others are arguably controversial , but surely any Christian knows that all humans are "children of god"

Was gonna go with Tony Benn...

"Arguably"?
Bin Laden has expressed delight in the death of thousands. This unrepetentent killer is no child of God. He may, admittedly, serve another master, but Tutu ain't saying that.
Poosh,
It would have been a fair guess!

Satan was created by God.

David
When did Tutu make these comments about Mugabe. If he ittered those words this year then they are inexcusable if it was in 1980 at the handover of power before Mugabe wrecked the place then that's a different matter.
PS - If you are a Christian you KNOW Osama Bin Laden, just like Adolf Hitler , Mother Theresa and Barbara Windsor are all god's children!

Those who turn there backs on God are no longer his children by their own free will. That is the choice all of us face.
As for when he made those remarks, I guess over the decades - not exactly sure of dates Colm.

They may be estranged from god but they remain his children and can always return to his favour through repentence.

Give it a try Colm....

Yes Colm - it's worth the risk...!

OK
"Dear God, Please can you forgive David Vance and ernest young, show them the error of their misguided ways , accept their repentance and forgive them Thank you Colm"

Colm,
I need every prayer possible!

"Satan was created by God."
No, God gave Satan free-will and Satan became Satan. Hah!

No, God gave Satan free-will and Satan became Satan. Hah!
omniscient God made Satan and gave him free will - knowing that he would fall.
There's a problem here because the bible tells us that by their fruits shall ye know them - and that a good tree doesn't bring forth bad fruits.
There's a circle to square.

My favourite prayer - it's like something from Father Ted - is the recently released one for drivers ;)

Actually, in the last five years Desmond Tutu has been very critical of Mugabe's regime. He even supported those who called for the England cricket team to boycott Zimbabwe.

"Archbishop Tutu once said that Mr Mugabe resembled a caricature of an African dictator." So he's changed his mind about Mugabe. You once claimed Mandela remains a Mugabe supporter, but he has also been critical of
No, but let's not get the facts get in the way of a good rant. David Vance, you remind me of that far-right Afrikaner extremist Terreblanche who used to shout: "Ons skuld die fokken Zulu niks - hulle kan in hulle fokken tuisland bly" (translation: We owe the ####### Zulu nothing - they can stay in their ####### homeland!)
My politics is centre-right, but I find it easier to listen to blinkered commies and lefties than to read your reactionary rants.

Yes, Shaun, let's not get the facts get in the way of a good rant is David's tagline.
