Actually, they agreed to report Iran to the UN Security Council:

"Key powers have agreed that the United Nations' nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, should report Iran to the Security Council over its nuclear programme.

The move by the US, the EU, Russia and China was approved at talks in London."

Peter,

Yes. And to what end? When will it "be reported"? What process will then open up, for how long, to what avail? It strikes me that the UN is incapable of any action of any substance on this, and I think you will find that WHEN it EVENTUALLY reaches the Security Council for "discussion", China and Russia may find it difficult to endorse any course of activity that might affect their pals in Tehran. We'll see - but I'm marking where I stand and what I believe will happen. In a few months we can see who called it correctly.

Peter

David, I agree with your analysis. I'll be amazed if anything useful comes from the UN but it has to be tried before any military options.

Yes - we must TRY. I don't know WHY. It won't matter in the end. You'll always have a contingent squealing about how illegal it is when we DO finally set those bunkerbusters to work.
