Hello David,

It looks as tho' this post is a bit too 'up market' intellectually for the usual bunch of commenting miscreants...or maybe it just doesn't fit with their idea of peace, democracy and justice in the ME...just not anti Israeli enough for their prejudiced euro thinking...

I would think people haven't commented here becuase the article is ridiculous.

Fascinating news footage - Israeli forces beating the crap out of demonstrators today - reminded me of the bad old days of the 1960s RUC ... will be interesting to hear what our SF chums have to say - as the ones they were beating up were protesting at the demolition of Illegal houses.

Colm,

As usual, you miss the point by a country mile...stick with the cardi jokes, - they are more your style....

Colm

How do you know I miss the point?

In fact the most appropriate point Mr Plaut makes demolishes the very basis of the Zionist cause. Something I am sure he didn't intend.

Cunningham

Well said, Colm!

Neal

MR - it would also be interesting to hear the thoughts of those who support the destruction of Palestinian homes and the beating up of Palestinian demonstrators.

Cunningham

MR, you probably don't remember, but your police force in the 1960's used to beat the crap out of demonstrators for demanding a right to vote in local elections, not because they marched into South Antrim and illegally grabbed land.

Noel - I remember it well. I remember the Devenney killing - which I consider to have been murder. But will those here on the Palestinian side be criticising the Israelis for the brutality they showed towards those who took the hammering today ? or would their prejudices against the demonstrators - militant zionists - affect their judgement ?

Madradin Ruad

I also remember the brutality of YOUR police force Noel - any thoughts on Garda brutality of the same era ? I seem to remember something about Bernadette Devlin taking a Garda Truncheon in the face .... but I suspect as usual that was somehow "different" ;)

Neal

But will those here on the Palestinian side be criticising the Israelis for the brutality they showed towards those who took the hammering today ?

They certainly should. The settlements are wrong, and the demonstrating settlers shouldn't have been throwing stones, etc. at the cops. Nevertheless, it's unacceptable for the police to beat them.

Cunningham

I assume they would be glad the Israeli police cleared away at least some of the illegal settlers, regardless of how they do it. The settlers are militant racists, taking land from a people who are powerless to prevent it and occasionally venting their ethnic hatred for their victims by shooting at them.
Surely for someone with your knowledge of history, this should ring a few bells.

More seriouisly, it is interesting how naturally you seem to equate the pro-Palestinian and the Republican crowd, as if the link were inevitable. I also think that it is, 'tho probably for different reasons than you. In any case, I'm sure you're all too aware that your loyalties here make you something of an exception among your kind.

Madradin Ruad

Noel - Irish Republicans are pro-palestinian, by and large Plastic paddies are Zionist.

militant racists, taking land from a people who are powerless to prevent it and occasionally venting their ethnic hatred for their victims by shooting at them.

Sounds like Irish republicans especially along the Borders.
