WHY I DON'T LOVE ULSTER

I'm just catching up with stuff that has happened whilst I've been away, and that includes the launch of the "I LOVE ULSTER" newspaper and website.

Let me be clear. I love my wife and children. I don't love any country in particular. I don't love Northern Ireland. I am however very partial to the values of liberty and freedom! I can understand and respect the values of patriotism. I am in favour of anything that helps to restore confidence and pride amongst the pro-Union people of Northern Ireland. Certainly this new newspaper and website (Neither of which I have seen as of yet) have created quite a stir.

Wow. While I’ve been in new-baby-honeymoon-period, an issue has united most Northern Irish bloggers like nothing before! Yes, I’m talking about the latest high-quality, totally unbiased Northern Irish publication, Love Ulster. And like th... [Read More]

Very tactful David ;)

I don't love any country in particular. I don't love Northern Ireland.

I agree. How anyone could possibly love a country has always been beyond me. The idea is ridiculous.

Even if you don't love any country in particular, presumably you like some more than others. Otherwise, why would you be bothered whether Northern Ireland was part of the UK or the Republic?

I like many things - and I dislike quite a few. It's the use of the word "love" I find daft - it's just too intense.

Go on DV, admit it.
Love Ulster is already the complete fiasco it was always destined to be.

David

How about "I am reasonably attracted to Ulster" !

How about: "I am a reasonably attractive Ulster girl" :)

"I am a reasonably attractive Ulster girl"

Is that the nine county variety or the farcical six type? ;)

Jo

I wouldn't call David a reasonably attractive Ulster girl.... LOL

However, you are undoubtedly a stunningly attractive Ulster girl/Northern Irish girl/Occupied six counties girl - delete as appropriate!

Jo, I didn't see the sign saying you were occupied

Must admit I thought the term 'occupied six-counties girl' could sound a bit ambiguous ;)

Sorry, I was away there, being busy.

"stunningly attractive Ulster girl" I think is something all shades of political opinion can agree on! :):)

How can you not love your country? of course it is not the love of a wife or child but it is at least in my case somthing that I love enough to die for. I just don't understand that statement.

"How can you not love your country? of course it is not the love of a wife or child but it is at least in my case somthing that I love enough to die for."

Why the hell would you want to waste your life in such a way. I can only assume that you are an american.

Newton Emerson is bang on the button about this shoddy load of paramilitary droppings being presented as patriotism.
Cheers to John at Newshound.

If I may quote from a U.S. Marine Corps drill instructor driiling a bunch of WW2 recruits, "I don't want you dying for your country; the idea is to make the other bastard die for his!"

Newton Emerson's opinions might carry a little more weight had he not been a cheer-leader for an Agreement that rewarded thugs and murderers.

So, because he supported the GFA david if he writes 2 + 2 = 4 , it no longer equals 4 ?

I have read a lot of trash websites in my time but this pro-murderous IRA favouring site is the lowest of the low. The mentality of ALL involved equals the ground level quality of the stupidist of stupid remarks! What a waste of space and you are begging for alms to keep it up and running. Think again, sucker. Your day has come and gone!
