I don't know: nothing like a spot of Keynsian money-spending to get the economy moving: it's like financial muesli!

I'm rooting for London (although I'm wavering since I read your comment on Blair!).

I'm waiting but hoping that London do get it. just don't like losing to France!!

Nah, I do genuinely think it would bring a lot of money into the country - and Northern Ireland would at least get a game or two of football.

Oh just Paris or London left...

Ciarán

And it's London...

Colm

It's worth paying the extra council tax just to see us beat the French.

Hugh Green

What is so good about beating the French?

David Vance

Hugh,

I dunno - that's like asking why does the smell of freshly basked bread seem so inviting....

Sod the French...in essence.

peteb

That's an impressive u-turn, David ;)

Excellent news. Well done London.

Surprising to see someone who revels in his Britishness wishing the UK bid to fail.

David Vance

I revel in my independence.

Peteb,

I'm practising to be an Ulster Unionist.

Colm

Hugh

Are you British ?. No true Brit would even NEED to ask that question.

David. Is there enough bandwith on the ATW website to list the reasons why it's good to beat the French ?

David Vance

Colm,

Nope. Mind you - I can sum it up in two words. Jacques Chirac.

Hugh Green

Colm,

Are you British?. No true Brit would even NEED to ask that question.

I hold a British passport.

(But I'm from Northern Ireland, so I'm not really British. Hur hur)

Colm

Hugh

Oh! No let's not start up another 'nationality' hornets nest.

My comments are only menat tongue in cheek, but I think you must admit, there's just something about the French that makes beating them over any other people just that bit sweeter :)

David Vance

Now then Hugh - c'mon, you're British through and through. I bet if you were cut, you would bleed red, go white, and then turn blue! Hugh is as British as the Royal family...gulp....maybe that's not the best comparison...!!!!

Hugh Green

Colm,

I'm only messing. Seriously though, I don't understand why British people hold so much animosity towards French people.

'there's just something about the French that makes beating them over any other people just that bit sweeter :)'

Equally it could be said that there's something about the British that makes them take a strange relish in beating the French. I suspect it's because deep down they think the French have more sex.

DV

As for whether or not I'm British - I'm not bothered one way or the other really. Being only one thing these days is just, well, passé.

I'd say I'm more British than the Duke of Edinburgh but not quite as British as Terry Wogan.

Monica-Philadelphia

Congratulations to London. I think it's a great thing although the logistics will be a nightmare.

I would've liked to see New York make it but another part of me is delighted the the Hildebeast was shut down early in the game.

Monica-Philadelphia

Oh and Hugh. You can add most Americans to the list of people who LOVE to see the French get beat. In anything. It doesn't even matter what.
