I'm looking forward to the new Star Wars movie "Revenge of the Sith" - they are always a visual treat! But I have to say that reading the blabbering of George Lucas is not far removed from enduring the nonsense spewed out by fatboy and liberal poster boy Michael Moore. Lucas is clearly a self-loathing liberal who has nothing good to say about the USA - and the last two poor Star War movies rather made the point that trying to create sci-fi cinematic theatre and also make liberal political polemic doth not a happy marriage make. Lucas has clearly gone over to the dark side...
"Maybe the film will awaken people to this danger."
Yes, Mr. Lucas. People are going to gain great social insights from a shoot-em-up space movie and hopefully enact public policy accordingly.
What a dolt. Does he really believe that his dorky @#$%ing movie is going to cause people to reflect on current events in a serious fashion?

Emily,
He's the new Michael Moore - an air-head with a movie camera. May the force be with him.

While this probably won't fit into the more general point of your post.. it's worth considering whether Lucas is merely engaged in an attempt at revisionism in regard to his original intentions with Star Wars. Do the films really mirror the story he claims to have intended them to tell? What was to have happened in parts 7-9 then?
